Never Twice - link - Sunday, June 11, 2006 - comments (0)
Some of Portland's most winsome crafters, printers and tote-makers have a home for their wares on this shopping-cart-powered website. (Full disclosure: I help maintain their website.)
Handmade Bazaar - link - Sunday, June 11, 2006 - comments (0)
A twice-yearly craft fair organized by Meredith Butner and Katie Greenhoot in Portland, Oregon. What began as an event held in their backyard grew to become the large event that it has become, with ballroom-sized venues full of tables of neat handmade goods.
Type Foundry - link - Wednesday, May 04, 2005 - comments (0)
Type Foundry is a 5,000 square foot studio located in inner North Portland and run by Adam Selzer, Jason Powers and Jeremy Romagna. Lots of excellent Portland bands have recorded or produced music here, including Recursive Delete's own The Online Romance.
Perpetual Motion Roadshow - link - Monday, January 12, 2004 - comments (0)
The Perpetual Motion Roadshow is a monthly tour assembled by Toronto author Jim Munroe. He did a few tours promoting his books on the east and west coasts, and used the contacts he made to help out other folks. Every month he collects three individuals and sends them out on the road together to perform their work. I was one of the three folks who participated in the eighth edition of the tour, a west coast jaunt in January 2004.
IPRC - link - Thursday, February 27, 2003 - comments (0)
The Independent Publishing Resource Center (IPRC) is a non-profit space in downtown Portland where people can come to work on personal creative projects (zines, books, printmaking, etc.). There is also a zine library that is free for the public to peruse. If you're down in the area, go check out the space, just upstairs from Reading Frenzy (and diagonally across from Powell's).
Grand Central Bakery - link - Wednesday, February 26, 2003 - comments (0)
My roommates are always bringing stuff home after meals at Food Not Bombs, and often we'll have a few loaves of this bread sitting out on our counter. I just can't get enough of the stuff. I could eat peanut butter sandwiches for days.

This is a site where you can auction off the parts of your indie / punk / hardcore / et cetera record collection and young kids will pay you the big bucks. I made my grocery money through this site for well over a year. Some of the sellers aren't to be trusted, so if you choose to participate, please promise me you won't become one of the bad guys. (Note, 6/11/06: This site shut down a few years ago, so I've removed the link.)

All the junk on this site (graphics, audio, text) is (cc)1999-2008 Recursive Delete. Not because we believe that we invented the wheel and want credit for it, but just because it's not cool to take other people's art and use it for your own without at least asking first. |
